Abu Dhabi is the capital of United Arab Emirates and it is the second most populous city of the country. Take a day tour from Dubai to Abu Dhabi to explore the city’s fascinating mixture of tradition and progression. With its captivating historical sites, rich culture and profound traditions, Abu Dhabi displays a distinctive Arabian ambiance. It is an intriguing amalgamation of international influences and firmly rooted culture. The majestic skyscrapers, chain of mangroves, pristine coastline of the turquoise sea, sailing legacy, traditional markets and record breaking rides of the theme park – all make Abu Dhabi a harmonious blend of old and new. The city offers you a large variety of experiences.  For your day tour from Dubai to Abu Dhabi, the following three things should be on your must-do list.

1. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a significant site for worship in UAE. It is named after the first president of UAE, Sheikh Zayed, and is also his final resting place. The white marble mosque was built with natural materials such as gold, crystals, ceramics, marble and semi-precious stones such as amethyst, jasper, red agate and mother of pearl. With more than 80 marble domes, over 1000 pillars that hold the roofline, and four 107 meters high minarets, the mosque is a remarkable work of architecture. The mosque accommodates 41000 worshippers and is open to non-Muslims as well. Check out the intricate work on the ceiling and floral design on the walls. Walk on the world’s largest handmade carpet that weighs around 45 tons.  Take a close look at the world’s largest chandelier adorning the ceiling of the mosque. This precious chandelier is made from 40 kilograms of 24 carat galvanised gold and Swarovski crystals. It weighs approximately 12 tons.  The mosque etiquettes require all visitors to wear ankle-length and full sleeves clothes. Women are required to cover their head and ears with a scarf. You can also borrow Abayas and Kandouras for free to enter the mosque.

2. Ferrari World

Ferrari world is the first and only Ferrari themed amusement park. Located on the Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, the park is famous for its record breaking rides. Pump up your adrenaline with ‘Formula Rossa’, world’s fastest roller coaster ride that runs at a heart-racing speed of 240 kms per hour. Take the ‘Fiorano GT Challenge’ and race your friends at a speed of 95 kms per hour on twisting parallel tracks in a Ferrari 430 spider. Sharpen your racing skills on a 290 metre long ‘Go Karting’ track. This section is always crowded, so make sure you go there first and get your token before going for other rides. ‘Viaggio in Italia’ lets you soar over the spectacular mountains and Italian landscape while sitting on your chair. So fasten your seatbelt and enjoy virtual a trip to the Ferrari’s motherland. Enjoy a 4D fantasy universe with the ‘Speed of Magic’ ride.  Walk through the ‘Galleria Ferrari’ for a close look of a spectacular collection of unique Ferrari models. There are a lot more rides and you will need the entire day to explore and enjoy all of them. There are many rides like ‘Junior GT’ and ‘Junior Grand Prix’ for your little travellers as well. Also, if you own an international driving license, you can live your dream of riding a Ferrari around Yas Island. Not just that, there are five dining options within the Ferrari World that you can choose from. The entire amusement park is Air conditioned except for the roller coaster rides.

3. Date Market

The date market at Port Zayed is something you simply cannot miss in Abu Dhabi. Dates were the main source of nutrition for the ancient Emirates and a must-buy for the visitors of Abu Dhabi. You can choose from a variety of delectable juicy dates that include Ajwa, Mabroom, Majhool, Khudri etc. The shopkeepers explain the benefits of different date types and encourage you to taste them before buying. There are other delicacies such as dates filled with chocolates, nuts and strawberry – perfect souvenirs packed in attractive gift boxes.  The shops at the date market also offer aromatic spices and delicious condiments like date syrup and date seed coffee. So, enjoy your healthy organic shopping in the traditional date market of old Abu Dhabi. And don’t forget to bargain!
